Piercing FAQs

  • We offer most standard piercings, including ear lobes, cartilage, nostril, septum, lip, navel, eyebrow, labret, industrials, surface, dermal, nipple, and genital piercings. We’re also happy to discuss custom or modified piercings by request. All piercings are performed at the piercer’s discretion.

  • All piercing services, including jewelry changes, consultations, and troubleshooting, are available on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis on days the piercer is available. Please plan to arrive at least an hour before closing.

  • At this time, all piercing services are offered on a first-come, first-served walk-in basis.

  • Yes. Our shop enforces the following age requirements based on anatomy development and giving each piercing the greatest potential for successful healing.

    Ear Lobes: Age 7+
Under 7 requires an anatomy check, and meet and greet with the piercer to determine eligibility. We do not offer toddler or infant piercings.

    Helix: 12+
We will allow for one piercing at a time for these. The cartilage takes longer to heal and is harder to care for, so we want to set a minor up for the most possible success! (We give adults the same advice, too!)

Nostril, septum, standard lip, most ear placements: 15+
Many piercings will also be anatomy dependent. The pain potential and care level required for non-lobe ear placements is more advanced.

Navel, eyebrow, lower vertical labret: 16+
All of these are anatomy dependent and come with high scar risk if retired or if the piercing rejects. These piercings require a high level of care while healing and after healed.

Industrials of any kind, surface, dermal, nipples, genital: 18+

  • Yes. A parent or legal guardian must be present the entire time of the service and the following legal documents must be physically present and brought into the studio.

    • The parent/guardian's legal photo ID

    • Legal court guardianship papers if the adult has been granted guardianship over the parents

    • The child's birth certificate AND photo ID. Children can be issued state IDs and/or passports, which are best for matching to their birth certificates. We may also be able to use school photo IDs to match the physical birth certificate and may accept SchoolTool logins.

If we are not fully confident in the documents provided, we will not perform the piercing service. Per New York State law, only a parent/legal guardian can consent for a minor. No other family member is able to do so.

  • All of our standard jewelry is implant grade titanium, and is either threadless or internally threaded, based on best practices for safe piercings. 14k solid gold options are also available for many of our piercings. If you're interested in a particular brand, please consult our piercer.

  • Most piercings cost $80 and include basic jewelry. Surface piercings and standard industrials cost $100 and also include basic jewelry.

Pricing may vary for modified/custom piercings, advanced healing projects, and genital piercings. Please contact the piercer to schedule a consultation. Custom jewelry may be required for these projects.

Please note that titanium and 14k solid gold upgrades are available for many of our piercings. Pricing may vary.

  • Please bring your physical photo ID into the studio for a piercing service each time you visit.

Prepare ahead of time by having had a good meal close to your arrival and hydrating. A good nights rest ahead of time can be helpful too.

Also have any questions ready you would like to ask about the piercing you are getting. We are happy to make sure you have all questions answered before you get your piercing!

  • No. For safety reasons, we can only work with jewelry from our studio. We need to ensure the jewelry is safe to install in a fresh piercing and free of damage, and that that jewelry can withstand being sterilized in our equipment.

For jewelry change services, we will install jewelry previously purchased at our studio if we can verify the purchase. Please understand this is for the best interest and safety of you as our client.

  • Yes, you are always welcome to have a support person with you while getting a piercing.

However, we ask that you please leave your children at home if you are the only adult present. A child that is too young to be left alone in the lobby is also a liability in the piercing room. We need to make sure the attention is fully on your piercing service to keep everyone safe. Sometimes folks feel unwell during and after a piercing service, and we need to be able to give you all of our attention for care. Being present for a piercing can be frightening for a child, given the potential for blood, so please always have another adult present to care for any child that is with you in the studio.

  • Yes, all piercing services are performed in a private room.

  • Our piercer works hard to deliver exceptional service. Tips are not required or expected, but always appreciated.

  • Aftercare relies solely on you and will determine how well your new piercing heals.

The first rule of aftercare is DO NOT TOUCH YOUR FRESH PIERCING! Rotating jewelry is not necessary. Always wash your hands well before cleaning your piercing or adjusting the jewelry.

We recommend using sterile saline wound wash for cleaning. You can use a cotton swab as an applicator to gently clean the piercing, then rinse with clean water. This will remove any saline potentially left behind that can cause dryness.

During the cleaning process, check that your jewelry is secure. For threaded pieces, this will involve making sure the jewelry top is turned towards the right (think ‘righty tighty’). For threadless jewelry, make sure the top is pushed flush to the backing. Even after healing is complete, you should always make sure that your jewelry remains secure.

Be sure to dry the piercing after cleaning! Piercings do not like being wet or damp, as it will cause irritation and can lead to moisture bumps.

DO NOT use Bactine, alcohol, peroxide, or ointments on your new piercing. Saline for contact lenses or nasal saline is NOT the same as plain sterile saline solution. These items are drying, can cause irritation, and could even destroy your jewelry. Ointments can trap bacteria since they are sticky. Even ointments meant for wound care should be avoided, as they are meant to go under a bandage. Your piercing is an uncovered wound and we want to avoid debris sticking to it.

Avoid pools, hot tubs, lakes, ponds, the ocean, or any body of water while healing. Large bodies of water are full of bacteria and can lead to irritation and possible infection. Do NOT submerge your new piercing at all!

Please follow the recommended downsizing schedule we discussed with you after your piercing! This is an important step to ensuring your piercing fully heals and the jewelry is fit well to your anatomy after the initial swelling period.

You can always come in for a check up to see how your piercing is doing! We are here to help you.

Please be advised that YOU are responsible for maintaining your jewelry after your piercing is complete. We are not responsible for your jewelry after you leave the studio.
